On July 16 (Thursday) 2020, Major General Grudi Angelov, PhD – Commandant / Rector and Assoc. Prof. Maria Fartunova, PhD – Assistant-Rector of “G. S. Rakovski” National Defence College, were on a working visit at University of Ruse. They were welcomed by the Rector Corresponding Member Prof. Hristo Beloev DTSc. The Vice-Rector Education Prof. Plamen Kangalov, PhD, the Vice-Rector Research Prof. Diana Antonova, PhD, the Vice-Rector Internationalisation and Communication Policy Assoc. Prof. Desislava Atanasova, PhD and the Secretary General Assoc. Prof. Tanya Grozeva, PhD, also participated in the meeting.
At the beginning, Prof. Belovev noted that the successful cooperation between the two educational institutions dates back to 2014, and in 2015 the first cooperation agreement was signed. The renewal of the memorandum would be signed at today’s meeting, as well as new joint initiatives would be planned, he added. The two universities are negotiating the initiation of new master’s and bachelor’s degree programmes, said Prof. Belovev. The rector of the University of Ruse announced that the following joint master’s programmes are envisaged: „Security of Logistics Networks“, „Countering Radicalism and Terrorism“, „Security of Information Flows and Networks“ and „Security Management“. The bachelor’s degree programme of „Emergency Management“ will be offered, Prof. Beloev concluded.
Major General Grudi Angelov, PhD said that he was pleased to see the 2015 agreement extended. The cooperation on joint master’s programmes has been successful so far and lays the basis for the initiation of new programmes, he added. The rector of the National Defence College explained that the joint education will be based on the exchange of lecturers, which is in line with the new trends and requirements of the Ministry of Education and Science.
Assoc. Prof. Maria Fartunova, PhD added that today’s agreement continues the cooperation between the two elite institutions, which have proven their quality of education not only in Bulgaria, but also in Europe and around the world.
Major General Grudi Angelov, PhD and Corresponding Member. Prof. Hristo Belovev, DTSc. signed the extension of the Agreement for cooperation and joint activities between the two universities. It provides for joint work to strengthen the prestige of the two institutions at national and international levels. Cooperation in a wide range of areas, joint activities and initiatives in the field of education, science, research and innovation, as well as in other areas of mutual interest, are also planned.
