As part of his official visit to Bulgaria, Vice Minister of Defence of Japan, Mr. Kaneko Yozo, gave a lecture on the aspects of security in the Pacific region.
Addressing the faculty and staff of Rakovski National Defence College, he highlighted the priority importance of Japan’s strategic partnership with the EU and NATO in the context of the challenges to the security environment in Southeast Asia and the world at large.
Earlier, Mr. Kaneko and the members of his delegation – marking the first visit of its kind – were welcomed by Major General Stayko Prokopiev, Commandant of Rakovski National Defence College, and were introduced to the history and development strategy of Bulgaria’s oldest military educational institution.
Both sides expressed readiness to cooperate in the field of military training and education, sharing best practices in teaching and research activities.
During their tour of the “Royal Halls” complex, the guests were pleasantly surprised to see a beautifully preserved book from 1888 titled “Paper Butterflies from Japan” in German, part of the rich collection of the College’s library.
