In execution of an order of the Minister of Defence and funded by NATO’s Defense Education Enhancement Program (DEEP) programme, twenty-three Ukrainian instructors – military personnel from different higher military-educational institutions in Ukraine participated in an English language course at Rakovski National Defense College (RNDC) in the period 23.10.2023 – 15.12.2023.
Certificates of successful completion of studies were presented to the Ukrainian trainees at an official ceremony in the Royal Chambers Complex of Rakovski National Defense College by the Deputy Minister of Defence Gen. (Ret.) A. Zapryanov.
During their training, the Ukrainian officers had the opportunity to establish contacts and to present their home universities on meetings with delegations from The Defense University of Sweden and from The Military Technical Academy of Romania. They also attended meetings with the Bulgarian Minister of Defence Mr. T. Tagarev, with the Chief of Defence Adm. E. Eftimov, and with the ambassador of Ukraine in Bulgaria H.E. Olesya Ilashchuk .
The cultural programme included visits to The National Military Historical Museum and The Regional Historical Museum in Sofia. The trainees also visited cultural and historical sights in the city of Plovdiv and The Holy Monastery of Rila.
An the end on the language course, the Ukrainian military personnel filled out a feedback survey in which they gave a high assessment of the quality of the English language training at the RNDC and expressed their satisfaction with the overall organisation of their stay in Sofia. Likewise, the RNDC Command and the English Language Department felt honored and deeply grateful for the opportunity to have met their colleagues from Ukraine and would be eager to expand this well-established professional connection.
