OF THE COMMANDANT OF RAKOVSKI NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE
AT THE PRESS CONFERENCE ON THE OCCASION OF THE PREPARATION AND THE CELEBRATION OF THE 200TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BIRTH OF GEORGI STOYKOV RAKOVSKI
DEAR MR. DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER FOR PUBLIC ORDER AND SECURITY AND MINISTER OF DEFENCE,
DEAR MR. MINISTER OF CULTURE,
DEAR MEDIA REPRESENTATIVES,
DEAR MAYORS, PARTICIPATING IN THE INITIATIVE,
It is an honor for me to greet you with „Welcome!“ in the Royal Halls complex of the Military Academy.
The purpose of this press conference is to present the organization established for the celebrations in connection with the 200th anniversary of the birth of the great patriot of Bulgaria Georgi Stoykov Rakovski and 75 years since the Regent’s Decree of March 5, 1946, which gave the College the right to bear his patron name.
The public announcement of the initiative is a prerequisite for the participation of a large number of Bulgarians in the national celebration of the anniversary in a dignified manner, as well as for paying tribute to the memory and feat of our great Revival activist and founder of the two legions preceding the modern Bulgarian army.
Rakovski will remain in our history with his relentless personality, with his activity, with his directness and honesty. He had a character which enabled the involvement of hundreds of prominent Bulgarians in the great cause at the time. Therefore, when we mention names like those of Karavelov, Botev and Levski, we cannot and should not overlook the contribution of their first teacher Rakovski.
I am pleased to announce that the national celebrations dedicated to the 200th anniversary of his birth are under the patronage of:
the Deputy Prime Minister for Public Order and Security and Minister of Defence Krasimir Karakachanov, PhD and the Minister of Culture Boil Banov.
